A family jewellery house, a Mappila merchant's ambition, and the conviction that Calicut deserved a bench that never compromised on the weight of its gold or the hand of its finishing.
Charaparambil Moosa Haji opens a gold jewellery counter on Indira Gandhi Road, Pottammal Junction, Calicut. The idea is straightforward: handmade ornaments, BIS-grade gold, no negotiation on weight. The name "Apollo" — chosen for the sun, for gold, for ambition — goes above the door. "De Valeur" — French for "of worth" — follows. The bench is small. Calicut's merchants and brides find it immediately and stay.
The family establishes CEEPEES GOLD, the dedicated manufacturing unit that still produces every Mnemonic piece today. Custom bespoke commissions begin in earnest. International export relationships open with Gulf jewellery houses including DAMAS, AL HASEENA, ARY and ALUKKAS in Dubai — establishing Apollo De Valeur as a trusted wholesale partner across the Arabian Gulf.
Apollo Jewellery opens on Mavoor Road, Calicut, broadening the city presence. The IG Road flagship simultaneously expands to a full showroom with dedicated bridal, antique and diamond counters. Malabar brides — Hindu, Muslim and Christian — begin choosing Apollo for complete trousseau commissions. The four collection names are formalised: Mnemonic, Arsha, Fusion, Manthoorah.
Pattambi and Perambra showrooms open, serving the interior Malappuram belt and the farming communities of northern Kerala. Both showrooms carry the full four-collection inventory and maintain their own bench for repairs and sizing.
Kannur and Vatakara showrooms bring Apollo De Valeur to the northern Malabar coast. By now the group operates six showrooms, all under the Charaparambil family's direct management. No franchise, no outside investors.
The ninth showroom opens in Doha's Souq Waqif district, serving the large Kerala Mappila diaspora in Qatar. The Manthoorah collection — already popular among Gulf-based brides commissioning from Calicut — now has a permanent address in the Gulf. Insured international delivery formalised for the UAE, Oman, UK and US.
Nine showrooms. The Calicut flagship on IG Road remains the design and production centre. Charaparambil Muhammed Junaid and Fathima Nifla Charaparambil continue the family's management of the house. Every Mnemonic piece is still signed inside by the goldsmith who made it. Nothing leaves the door unless the family would put it on their own daughter's hand.
